nSomething I discovered when I recently did something I had never done before.

nI conducted a live-streaming over the internet of my live, weekend Sleight of Mouth class.

nWhy?
n
nBecause many people had said they wanted this.
n
nThey knew the live, 2-day Sleight of Mouth seminar was the best way to learn.
n
nBut they found it challenging to come all the way to New York to attend in person.
n
nThey wanted the live seminar to be streamed into their own living room.
n
nSo we did it.
n
nWe set the whole thing up quite quickly so we only got about 25 people, but we did it right.
n
nI hired a professional camera man to do the camera work and sound.
n
nI got a friend of mine who’s an ace I.T. guy to handle the web interface.
n
nThe class went off without a hitch.
n
nI can honestly tell you the class itself has probably never been better.

nThe students in the room with me were fantastic.

nThe students on line also asked some good questions and participated actively.

nExcellent feedback, excellent participation, excellent fun.

nAnd I taught well.

nIt really one of the best classes I’ve ever done.

nBut here’s the curious part: of all those people clamoring for a live stream seminar, only about half of them were actually on the call at any given time!
n
nSome skipped out for an hour or so.
n
nSome even a whole day.
n
nBut everyone wanted the video recording afterwards.
n
nSo maybe being in the live seminar is the best way to learn, but it seems a video of that seminar is a close second.
n
nAnd, of course, in some ways it may be better.
n
nBecause with the video you can watch it as often as you want until you really master the material.
n
nYou can watch at your own pace and stop and start as often as you like.
n
nAnd, because the 2-day training is divided up into 11 videos, it’s easy to go back to specific sequences you want to repeat.
n
nSo maybe it is, in fact, the best way to learn, when you stop an think about it.
n
nThere is one small, less-than-perfect aspect about these videos, however.
n
nBecause the video was being live-streamed it had to be shot at a lower resolution than it would have been for straight filming at HD.
n
nSo the video quality is Standard Definition.
n
nThe way we all used to watch TV.
n
nIt’s perfectly fine once you accept it for what it is. You can see everything just fine and the audio is excellent.
n
nIn fact we had it professionally edited and mastered so it as a high quality as possible.
